“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” –Thomas Jefferson

Freedom… it’s something most Americans have probably thought about lately with our recent observance of Memorial Day and the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. Honoring our fallen soldiers and those soldiers currently stationed around the world is really such a privilege, isn’t it? Without their sacrifice – and the corresponding sacrifice of their families – we wouldn’t necessarily have the freedom to celebrate. It feels a bit daunting to consider a life where those freedoms don’t exist, even though I know it happens in other nations every day. God has truly blessed America.

In fact, amongst all the things we are granted with our national freedom, I think the most important benefit is our right to worship our Heavenly Father. With this, it also occurred to me that Jesus extended a tremendous freedom to us when he gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins. His infinitely gracious gift allows us the choice to have a right relationship with God… and there’s nothing more freeing than that!

Thank you Lord Jesus for your endless love and mercy. Thank you for blessing this country we live in. And, thank you for revealing yourself and for granting us free will to make the choice for you. Amen.

Life is FULL of choices!
Posted on: May 23rd, 2011 by Blog No Comments

Everyday, life is full of choices. In every area of life, whether deciding which pizza toppings to order, picking out a fabric for a new couch, or simply buying bread, choices are helpful. At The Little Card Company, we want you to have a variety of choices when you’re deciding on a special card to share with family and friends. We’re very excited to announce that you now have more options with our new line of YOU CREATE IT! cards. These custom cards will give you even more freedom to create something unique.

Several months ago we were at a convention and we had the opportunity to speak with a number of women about what types of cards they’d like to see on our site. These women asked for kindergarten graduation cards, ‘save the date’ cards, 4th of July party invitations and much more. Our challenge was to fulfill their wishes… and that led us in the direction of creating a line of cards that would allow customers to have flexibility to produce their own personal cards. Our YOU CREATE IT! cards give you the opportunity to choose a simple design or no design at all. You can also choose flat or folded cards, and each template offers ample space for your text. When you create a custom card, you get to choose whether you want to share the news about your new puppy or use your little one’s beautiful drawing on a thank-you note. We provide a simple template and you do the rest.

At The Little Card Company, we want you to know that the choice is yours with our YOU CREATE IT! line. Let us help you create something amazing to share with your friends and family!

Brainstorming in the Shower
Posted on: February 16th, 2011 by Blog No Comments

I was drying my hair yesterday when a great idea popped into my head. As soon as I finished, I went to tell my husband. I can’t tell you how many of my sentences begin with “I have an idea…” My husband, bless his heart, smiles a little and responds “of course you do.” It’s really an involuntary action. I don’t set out to conquer the day’s problems while showering, but I, like most busy moms, have very little quiet time each day. The quietest time of the day for me is after the kids go to bed, but by then my brain is not firing on all cylinders. In contrast, my sister’s creative juices do not begin flowing until after 9:00p and it’s not unusual for me to get emails from her well after I’ve gone to bed.

One December, a couple of years ago, I had been searching for Christian photo Christmas cards. I couldn’t find any modern designs with faith-based messages. While drying my hair, I suddenly thought that it would be a good idea to get my graphic designer sister to create a Christian Christmas card for my family. She loved the idea and quickly began working on some concepts. That little nugget started what would become our company.

Not every one of my showers leads to great inspiration, but I usually do a little problem-solving or planning during what I term my “quiet time.” As for my husband, he still patiently listens to each and every one of my wacky ideas or half-baked thoughts. He’s a good man and he inspires me every day.

Know Jesus? Now, how do you spread the word?

Well, what works for this guy may not necessarily work for you … on the other hand, you may decide it’s something you’d like to try on a Saturday morning!

“Redeemed Riders, Commissioned by Christ.”

I love that, don’t you? This gentleman was one of two wearing the Redeemed jacket, and they anchored a long line of Harley-riding friends on their way to who-knows-where. This awesome statement of faith got me thinking about The Great Commission and the unique ways that people proclaim their faith… and the unique ways that our Lord makes Himself known.

What is the most unique way you’ve witnessed someone spreading the Good News? Not sure about you, but I think this one has to be on a Top-10 list somewhere!

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” – Matthew 28:19

An Early Christmas Surprise…
Posted on: December 27th, 2010 by Blog No Comments

Each and every day for the past two years, I thought about what it would take to start this company. I thought about the long hours, the many card designs we would need and of course, all the hard work. The meetings with my partners, the playdates that would be missed, etc…

I thought about so much of what it might be like…and yet one thing caught me completely by surprise: you did, folks. It was the fact that I would be able to glimpse a small part of each of our customers’ lives through the pictures in your cards.

As one of the graphic designers for our company, being able to see the smiling faces of all of our beautiful customers and their kids/grandkids/siblings etc. is truly amazing! As I work on your cards, it makes me feel like I get to know our customers just a tiny bit. It is a privilege — it’s like receiving unexpected Christmas presents long before Christmas arrives!!

So, thanks for sharing a snapshot of your lives with me as I remove the red-eye in your picture, tweak the color, or sharpen up your image a bit. It made me feel like Christmas arrived early this year!
Blessings,
Pam
